3rd Polish Combinatorial Conference
Będlewo, September 24-30, 2010
The idea of Polish Combinatorial Conferences was born after a very successful meeting: Poznań – Zielona Góra Workshop on Combinatorics, in Będlewo (October 2006).

Consecutive conferences are meant to integrate Polish and international combinatorial community. As the conference is mostly dedicated to young scientists, we plan several invited talks, and a couple of tutorials for PhD students, by leading world experts in Combinatorics.

The scope of the conference is intended to cover most aspects of modern combinatorics, including graph theory, probabilistic combinatorics, extremal combinatorics, combinatorial optimization, algorithmic problems, combinatorial number theory, applications of combinatorics in computer science.

invited speakers
  • Adrian Bondy, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, Université Pierre et Marie Curie Paris 6
  • Michael Elkin, Ben Gurion University of the Negev
  • Piotr Indyk, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge
  • Pavol Hell, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby
  • Mirosław Truszczyński, Univeristy of Kentucky, Lexington
  • William T. Trotter, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta
  • Xuding Zhu, Zhejiang Normal University
tutorials

Wednesday, September 29, was the day of tutorial. A few hours of lectures were followed by exercises and solutions sessions.
  • Michał Karoński, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań

contributed talks

Participants were invited to give contributed talks. Here you can see the list of talks and provided abstracts.

open mind prize

Two Polish junior researchers were awarded for outstanding research in an area of combinatorics:
  • Bartłomiej Bosek, Jagiellonian University, Kraków
  • Andrzej Dudek, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh
The third nominee was Jakub Przybylo. This was the first award of the prize and we intend to continue this on next conferences. The theme of the prize comes from the saying of Paul Erdos: My mind is open. Each candidate at the time of the award should not have a PhD degree or be within four years after completing a PhD. The annoucement and short but precise terms of elegibility can be found here.

special volume of Discrete Mathematics

The proceedings of the conference will apper in a special volume of Discrete Mathematics. The deadline for submission is December 1, 2010. For details please click here.

fee and support

The conference fee is 650 PLN and include all local expenses.

Young researchers may apply for financial support. Since this year our resources are limited an application should be supplemented with either a list of five best research articles published in 2006-2010 or a short letter of recommendation sent via email directly to email=a@b, a=3pcc b=tcs.uj.edu.pl by a senior researcher.
